Canvasses Unmasked at St. Xavier’s Malhar Festival

Canvasses Unmasked, held on August 15, 2025, was a standout event at Malhar, the annual intercollegiate cultural festival of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Organized by the Entertainment Theatricals and Contests and Fine Arts departments, the event challenged teams to bring iconic portrait paintings to life through face painting, costumes, and a short theatrical performance.


Best of Critics Choice at the 17th Habitat Film Festival

The Film Critics Guild collaborated with the 17th Habitat Film Festival to showcase the Best of Critics’ Choice Awards 2025 — a selection of nine short films from across India, handpicked by our critics. Guild members Deepak Dua and Arnab Banerjee introduced the screenings on May 17 and 18 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.


Choice Shorts of Choice Awards at Soho House, Mumbai

On Friday, 25 April, Shilajit Mitra, member, Film Critics Guild, introduced a curated package of short films from the 2025 edition of Critics’ Choice Awards (CCA) at Soho House, Mumbai. ‘Virundhu’ (The Feast) by Rishi Chandna, ‘Obur’ by Faraz Ali and ‘Jal Tu Jalaal Tu’ by Prateek Vats were the three gorgeous shorts screened. The event concluded with an invigorating Q&A with the cast and crew of ‘Jal Tu Jalaal Tu’, whose lead actor, Harish Khanna, won the Best Actor Award for short films at CCA 2025.


FCG Member Arnab Banerjee as jury at Dyal Singh College (DSC) Festival

Cine Revamp, an event organized on February 28, 2025, by the Connecting Dreams Foundation (CDF) chapter at Dyal Singh College (DSC), New Delhi, as part of their annual fest Chang-E-Rah, challenged participants to redesign posters of socially driven films revealed on the spot. Film Critics Guild member Arnab Banerjee was invited to be on the jury panel for this event. A fusion of cinema and design, Cine Revamp proved that a fresh perspective can transform the way we see stories.


Critics' Choice Awards 2025

The Critics' Choice Film Awards is a platform to celebrate diversity and flair in Indian films. It is a space to reward and recognise creativity, ingenuity and quality.

As a pan-India award, the Critics' Choice Film Awards represents the diverse range of filmmaking in the country. It honours talent and displays the rich culture of films across languages, styles and themes. The Critics' Choice Film Awards were instituted in 2018 and have continued every year since.

In our first edition, the awards recognized short films, in the second we enhanced the awards to include the exciting and burgeoning space of web series and episodic content. This year we aim to continue unearthing and honoring talent from this flourishing space. With a transparent process to identify worthy winners, these awards aim to reward the immense creativity of this industry.
