FCG Member Arnab Banerjee as jury at Dyal Singh College (DSC) Festival

Cine Revamp, an event organized on February 28, 2025, by the Connecting Dreams Foundation (CDF) chapter at Dyal Singh College (DSC), New Delhi, as part of their annual fest Chang-E-Rah, challenged participants to redesign posters of socially driven films revealed on the spot. Film Critics Guild member Arnab Banerjee was invited to be on the jury panel for this event. A fusion of cinema and design, Cine Revamp proved that a fresh perspective can transform the way we see stories. Arham Khan (1st prize – 12th Fail) and Bhavya Singh (2nd prize – Super 30) captivated the jury members with their bold reinterpretations. Film Critic Ishita Sengupta at the Berlinale Talents 2025

Film critic Ishita Sengupta was selected as part of Berlinale Talents 2025. She was one of eight writers from around the world to partake in intensive workshops and networking opportunities aimed at elevating her craft. She was also among the 34 members of the press selected to cover the Sundance Film Festival as part of the Press Inclusion initiative—an effort by the festival to support critics from underrepresented groups through financial and systematic assistance.

Best of Critics' Choice Awards at the 17th International Guwahati Film Festival

The Film Critics Guild collaborated with the Gauhati Cinema Club for the 17th International Guwahati Film Festival to showcase the Best of the Critics’ Choice Awards. The festival took place from 11—16th December 2024, where five feature films were screened, which included titles like Kadaisi Vivasayi by M. Manikandan, Three of Us by Avinash Arun Dhaware, Eeb Allay Ooo! by Prateek Vats, Koozhangal by P. Vinothraj, and Goldfish by Pushan Kripalani.


FCG Gender Sensitivity Award at Dharamshala Int'l Film Festival 2024

The Film Critics Guild partnered with the Dharamshala International Film Festival (7-10 December 2024) to present the FCG Gender Sensitivity Award to the documentary film Marching in the Dark by Kinshuk Surjan. The jury included film critics Ishita Sengupta (OTT Play), Kirubhakar Purushothaman (News18), and Sukanya Verma (Rediff.com). At the closing ceremony of the festival, the award was presented to the filmmaker by film critic Rohan Naahar (The Indian Express).


Best of Critics' Choice Awards Screened at Lakhisarai Children's Film Festival 2024

The first-ever Lakhisarai Children’s Film Festival was held in Lakhisarai, Bihar, where a short film package was screened under the ‘Best of Critics’ Choice Awards,’ in collaboration with the Film Critics Guild. Suman Sen’s The Silent Echo and Karishma Dev Dubey’s Bittu were featured in this package. Guild member and senior critic Deepak Dua was present at the event.


Film Critics Guild Gender Sensitivity Award at MAMI 2024

The Film Critics Guild collaborated with the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 and awarded the FCG Gender Sensitivity Award to the feature film Girls Will Be Girls by Shuchi Talati. The jury consisted of film critics Monika Rawal, Rohit Khilnani (Bollywood Hungama), and Sanyukta Thakare (Mashable). Click here to read more


Panel on Film Criticism at Round the Frame Awards in Mumbai

Film Critics Guild collaborated with Reborn India Film and conducted a panel discussion on the art of film criticism at their Round the Frame Awards Night, an event to celebrate short films. Guild members Ajay Brahmatmaj, Ishita Sengupta, Monika Rawal, Keyur Seta and Shilajit Mitra had an engaging conversation on why film criticism matters and how a critic views a film.


Best of Critics' Choice Awards 2024 Screened in Goa

The Cinephile Film Club presented a package of five short films from the Critics’ Choice Awards 2024, at Maquinez Palace, Panjim Goa on Thursday, 3 October. This was done in collaboration with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG). The session was curated and moderated by Film Critics Guild member, Sachin Chatte.


Submissions Open for 2025

The Critics’ Choice Awards 2025 is currently taking submissions for short films and feature-length documentary films for the next edition of the awards. Deadline for submission is 31 October 2024. Click here for submission guidelines .


Deepak Dua Wins National Award

In a momentous recognition of his longstanding contributions to film journalism, Senior Journalist and Film Critic Deepak Dua has been honored with the Best Critic Award at the 70th National Film Awards for the year 2022. The prestigious award was announced to Dua by the esteemed Jury members in an event held today.
